Bidders day for £97m PF2 schools

The Yorkshire private finance batch is made up of seven secondary schools of which the first school is The Samuel Lister Academy in Bradford.

The bidders’ day will predominantly take place at the Samuel Lister Academy on Monday 27 January and there will be an option to visit the school site.

During the day, representatives of the Education Funding Agency will give more information about this batch and details of further involvement for those firms that are interested.

The winning contractor for the private schools scheme will design, build, finance and maintain the educational buildings over a period of 25 years.

Using the Government’s PF2 aggregator model funding will be provided, which will result in a single organisation give debt funding for project contractors.

The process of contractor selection for the construction and maintenance of the PF2 schools is scheduled to begin in February.

So far Laing O’Rourke and Morgan Sindall have all been shortlisted for two batches of privately financed schools on the PSBP, to be built under the government’s Private Finance 2.

Additionally, Morgan Sindall, Wates and a joint venture between Interserve and Kajima have been shortlisted for the first £150m batch of seven schools across Hertfordshire, Luton and Reading.

Miller Construction, Laing O’Rourke and Sir Robert McAlpine are shortlisted bidders for a £120m batch of a dozen PF2 schools in the North East.

Finally, in the North West, Laing O’Rourke, Morgan Sindall and Vinci are listed bidders for a £120m batch of 12 schools.

A bidders’ day will be held on 27 January 2014 at the Samuel Lister Academy in Bingley, West Yorkshire.
