Mechanical Engineer

This contract with our central government client is for a Mechanical Engineer for 12 months. The role is located in Weybridge and ideally requires 4 days per week onsite. The pay rate is £750 (Umbrella) / £549.93 (PAYE) per day.  

Job Description:  

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the development and validation of the programme mechanical technical brief, specifically in respect to the site infrastructure and £650m science hub sub-programme. The role is also responsible for developing mechanical standards and mechanical design solutions. These skills are key to assuring the successful redesign of the Weybridge site and the long-term ability of the site to support science functions. The role will also provide second-tier mechanical engineering assurance over a significant Design contract, together with liaison and interface with capital deliver and the engineering team.  

Duties and responsibilities:  

• Sitewide energy utilisation studies and energy performance / determination for facilities on the Weybridge site.  

• Central thermal energy report development.  

• Sustainability strategy development (assisting)  

• Reviewing fabric and engineering condition surveys reports to assess potential projects for refurbishment of laboratories  

• Appraising relevant design standards for containment laboratories (assisting)  

• Involvement and stakeholder management at meetings related to the topics above.

• Chartered Engineer with extensive design expertise (10+ years)  

• Experience with complex laboratory/hospital design
