Our Commercial team are critical to the cost-effective execution of our business, and as one of our Senior Quantity Surveyors on HS2, you’ll be in prime position to support the growth of this crucial workstream.  

 

The Role  

 

As project demand increases, our commercial team requires your expertise to ensure the correct allocation and reporting of costs are made across both the Skanska, Costain and STRABAG (SCS) & Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM Nuttall (EKFB) Joint Ventures (JV).  

In this key role for our HS2 workstream, you’ll be managing business opportunities, emerging risks and commercial aspects across a Design & Build Contract, under the NEC Option C form, making good use of your knowledge and understanding of construction and contract law.  

Building lasting relationships with key stakeholders, from both the wider commercial and operational teams, you’ll be an excellent stakeholder manager, and true collaborator, who inspires others to do the same.  

 

These are just some of the activities you’ll be involved in:  

 

Manage weekly site costs  

Reporting/forecasting the performance of the project (PACE)  

Strict management of the change control process under the contract, following process to ensure the target cost is adjusted accordingly to protect the business  

Maintain relationships with the project team to manage a cost-loaded program  

Submit the Application for Payment (AFP) on time and ensure that they are paid on time

We’ll take it as read that you are degree qualified, an excellent communicator and problem solver, preferably with experience within a Tier One Contractor.  

Our commercial team colleagues need to be prompt in identifying risks and resolving any problems, so you will possess significant technical construction knowledge as well.
