Job description
Our client is a well-known multinational infrastructure consulting firm, they currently have an opportunity for a Senior Hydraulic Modeller to join their team in Bristol.
Job Description:
Role Responsibilities;
- Lead and undertake 1D-2D fluvial hydraulic modelling commissions and flood risk assessments.
- Undertake other forms of technical work across the Water Resources discipline including hydrological assessments, flood defence design, strategic flood risk assessments, design of sustainable urban drainage systems and environmental statements.
- Undertake quality assurance of technical work within your area of expertise, or have a desire to work towards becoming a technical reviewer.
- Nurture and develop graduate team members and junior colleagues.
- Take ownership of project delivery through input into management of project programmes, budgets and quality assurance procedures.
- Take a proactive approach to managing client relationships, expectations, success criteria and outcome measures in order to meet their requirements and deliver successful projects.
- Support wider business lines to develop and strengthen internalcross-sector relationships.
- Assist with the preparation of bids and proposals.
Requirements
They are looking for individuals whose skills and experience align with the following criteria:
- Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Extensive practical experience in the application of 1D and 2D hydraulic modelling techniques within the UK flood and water industry, including software packages such as Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW and InfoWorks ICM.
- A working knowledge of hydrological flow estimation, including industry standard techniques (WINFAP-FEH, ReFH2).
- A track record of leading the successful delivery of flood risk and water management projects in the UK, including liaison with private/public sector clients and regulators.
- Personable and team focused, with enthusiasm to provide technical mentorship and support to junior team members.
- Chartered with ICE/CIWEM, or working towards Chartership.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience of undertaking hydrological assessments using FEH based methodologies and other techniques.
- Knowledge and understanding of hydraulic behaviour and channel / flood risk management structures and how to replicate these in modelling software.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of Microdrainage and the development of surface water management strategies.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to support the team to deliver projects on time and budget.
- M.Eng, M.Sc. or Ph.D in relevant technical areas would be advantageous.
