Job description

Our client is a major tier 1 main contractor that works in the water and civils markets across the UK, due to project requirement they are currently seeking a Senior Engineer join their team in Oxfordshire.  

 

Responsibilities:  

- Communicate with Key Alliance partners and subcontractors.  

- Take a lead in the establishment of the site and overall delivery of the project supporting the team & management as required.  

- Work effectively and efficiently alongside other members of the delivery team to support them in their role.  

- Effective engagement with stakeholders and 3 parties. (land owners etc).  

- Keep accurate site records identifying any variances or issues and provided feedback to line managers.  

- Assist in project design co-ordination and distribution of documentation relevant to the site works.  

- Hold specific site based responsibilities as determined at project level, typically permits to work.  

- Be willing to hold site based co-ordination and subcontract manager roles relevant to your knowledge & experience as determined at site level, or as defined by the project management team.  

- Support other team members to ensure liaison between the different site disciplines and subcontract managers is free flowing and works are co-ordinated effectively.  

- Assist & support in the preparation, implementation & maintaining of formal QA / QC documentation on site including Inspection Test Plans and Check sheets.  

- Assist & support in the completion & co-ordination of regular mandatory & regulatory inspections for the project as directed, including SHE, LOLER, PUWER etc.  

- Assist in development, monitor & report on 5-6 week look ahead schedules inclusive of the supply chain and other stakeholders.  

- As required, prepare or approve and then implement Risk Assessments & Method Statements for directly resourced works.  

- Plan and procure materials & plant as required for works on site as required and ensure efficient use / stocks are maintained provide feedback and identification of any issues in a timely manner.  

- Manage direct reports, reviewing their performance, duties and support their development.  

- Ensure that all engineering, measurement, sub-contract works are undertaken in accordance with the conditions and requirements of the contract.  

- Promote continuous improvement in everything undertaken and share good practice within the project, back to the client's centre and to the wider industry.  

- Attend / arrange weekly co-ordination, progress and programme / resource meetings as required.  

- Monitor and drive SHE performance, ensuring all health and safety regulations are adhered to.  

- Play a key role in the management and communication of change control.

Requirements

- Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.  

- Understanding of engineering principles, Some civil / meica construction experience.  

- Degree/HNC level qualification in a relevant engineering subject, Design Management experience, Frontline and project supporting roles available.  

- Relevant CSCS Card, Current Driving Licence, Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management, Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system).
