Job Title: Project Engineer - WATER

What you will be doing?
We are looking for a Project Engineer to join the team, to deliver multiple projects within
budget and timescales, whilst complying with Health, Safety and Environment. You will be
outlining engineering from inception to completion of schemes utilising in-house functions
and resources, whilst liaising with clients to ensure KPI's are met.
You will also be completing estimates, quotations and contract documents, as well as
procurement of plant, materials and specialist subcontractors. Responsible for the full project
lifecycle, it will be key to ensure projects are planned, risks are monitored and managing any
warranty issues that may arise post-handover
Responsibilities:
Manage the delivery of the agreed planned programme
Provide technical expertise to support the development of the detailed planning and
subsequent delivery of the capital planned programmes of work
Coordinate enabling work for programmes, including traffic management and other
permits, customer communications, impact planning, in-line valve proving, survey work
and site activities (including preparation of those AWS-specific activities, e.g. Impact
Plans)
Identify opportunities within the planned programme to utilise innovative techniques to
maximise efficiencies
Active promotion of best practise across the capital programmes
Propose engineering solutions for complex work and ensure construction methods
mitigate water quality and operational risks
Ensure that work is undertaken to agreed safety standards and in accordance with safety
management systems including:
o Supervision of site activities and execution of health and safety and quality
audits
o Investigate and report H&S incidents / accidents
o Ensure impact Plans are in place and followed
o Working methods and on site behaviors are consistent with a target of zero
accidents
o Method statements and action plans are appropriate and followed
o Safety hazards are identified and controls put in place
o Workmanship is to agreed standards (consistent with relevant Water Industry
NVQs) and in accordance with Quality management systems
o Water quality / hygiene standards within POSWSH are achieved consistently
Develop strong working relationship with the contract partners and network teams
Ensure effective communication with stakeholders is maintained

Monitor and report progress on the capital programmes
Ensure that all required data from site is recorded and reported accurately and in defined
timescale
Manage and report risks and issues to the CDM
Monitor & report on the performance of the network partners or agreed delivery route
within defined timescales
Prepare/comment on method statements and/or impact plans and ensure effective
liaison with network teams
Key Experiences/Skills:
Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent
Significant experience in customer facing network role
Direct experience of working within the water distribution system
Experience of contract management and site supervision
Financial and contractual awareness
Health & Safety qualification – equivalent to CITB ‘Site Management Safety Training
Scheme’
NRSWA supervisor trained
Knowledge of CDM requirements
