Our client is an International Project Management, Engineering and Environmental Management consultancy with over 21,000 staff world-wide. Their expanding Water Resources related work means that we are actively recruiting to support their growing team specialising in this area.

We are seeking engaged, proactive, energetic and innovative staff to design, win and deliver our solution-oriented services to our clients' existing and new clients. The role will be based in their Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Lancashire or the West Midlands offices.

Qualifications

As a Principal Consultant you are likely to have an MSc/PhD with significant experience of surface water systems experience. You will ideally be chartered with a suitable institution. You should be able to demonstrate significant capability in technical leadership and delivery in complex water resources and environmental projects, specifically in one or more of the following areas:

• Water resource management planning, with particular emphasis on the assessment of deployable output, headroom, supply-demand-balance and option assessment. OFWAT auditor experience would be an advantage.

• Preparation of drought management plans.

• Water resources modelling using Aquator, MISER or other similar models for major resource zones

• Hydrometrics

• Restoring Sustainable Abstraction

• Catchment management

• Climate change impact assessment and adaptation planning

• Experience of the Habitats Directive and Water Framework Directive assessments. a

Experience in providing technical advice and support to a wide range of environmental and engineering projects would also be an advantage.

Candidates also need to demonstrate experience of working and in leading multi-disciplinary teams and in providing technical input to environmental assessments. Experience of working in Consultancy, Environment Agency, SEPA or Water Companies would be considered an advantage. The position is primarily in support of our clients UK Water Company clients, although contribution to international projects is increasingly required.

Our client are also seeking individuals with an interest in engaging more widely with the UK water resources and environmental management community through representation on professional body committees such as CIWEM and CIRIA as well as UK universities with a strong water / environmental academic profile.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate skills in factual and interpretative reporting, data management and analysis and presentation. The individual will also be expected to demonstrate an ability to produce high quality oral and written communications. Good time management and presentation skills and a flexible attitude are also essential to work within our busy and dynamic team. As a Principal Consultant you will be familiar with the regulatory, business and policy environment in which our clients operate, and have the capacity to develop and maintain long-term relationships with their clients.
