Due to the continued success of our internal delivery, we are investing and growing our mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA) team. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and confident Project Manager to join the team!

The MEICA Project Manager takes full responsibility for the delivery of engineering projects in both supply and waste disciplines throughout the Wessex region. The success of each project is measured against health and safety, quality, cost and time parameters, as well as stakeholder satisfaction.

The opportunity

The engineering and construction business provides a fully integrated turnkey service, ranging from feasibility and design to construction and commissioning. It encompasses all aspects of programme and project management, on site civils and MEICA construction activities, including commissioning. These activities are completed utilising our in-house expertise and direct resources at all stages, as well as our supply chain.

You will take ownership of project delivery and will be the main point of contact for all contractors, suppliers and business stakeholders associated with it. You will ensure the project scope matches the brief and is delivered in accordance with Wessex Water processes, procedures and quality standards. Creating and managing the project delivery and resourcing plans for each project will be a key aspect of this role. You’ll ensure the project is proactively monitored and progress is reported upon throughout its lifecycle.

Additionally, you’ll be responsible for the risks and issues associated with the project, maintaining the project RAID register to manage, mitigate and control them. You will also manage change throughout the project using standard change control processes, keeping stakeholders informed and ensuring all commercial aspects of the project are in place and managed throughout its lifecycle to include cost estimates, contracts and project forecasting.

You’ll ensure post project/benefit reviews are carried out on project completion, ensuring lessons learned are captured and shared across the business.

This role will have management responsibilities. You’ll be keen on encouraging personal accountability while providing regular guidance and performance feedback to team members. The ability to lead, manage and communicate with people is a key aspect for this role.

What are the requirements

Being educated to degree or HND/C level in a mechanical or electrical discipline is desirable. Chartered status or being an Incorporated Engineer (or working towards) at a relevant institution, such as IMechE or IET, would also be beneficial. You will have relevant experience as an MEICA Project Manager, preferably within the Water Industry.

You will be able to demonstrate strong leadership and decision-making capability, as well as the ability to lead by example and set clear direction and goals to the team. Your interpersonal and effective communication skills will engage and manage project stakeholders at all levels of the business.

Alongside the above, your excellent written, presentation, IT and organisational skills would be a pre-requisite.
