Our client is an Environmental consultancy and their Environmental Planning and Consenting team is looking for an experienced EIA/SEA Environmental team leader with a broad range of EIA/SEA and / or planning and consent experience for their Manchester operations.
You will be instrumental in leading and growing this national team focussed on improving environmental performance and delivering impact assessments for a diverse range of projects, such as energy and infrastructure projects and mixed-use development schemes for private and public clients. Role accountabilities:
Delivering projects across multiple consenting regimes including Development Consent Orders, Transport and Works Act Orders, Town and Country Planning Act, Hybrid Bill etc
Drive the growth of the environmental and planning and consenting capability at the company, as part of an integrated Planning and Environmental Impact and Assessment offering
Leading multi-disciplinary teams in winning and delivering work, and growing client's technical capability
Developing and taking to market, value propositions.
Leading on the coordination and delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental outcomes
Providing technical direction and oversight on projects within the team including writing, checking and review of deliverables, with financial/commercial responsibility
Lead and support tender proposal/ bids – working as part of a project winning team
Engaging with consultees and stakeholders
Helping grow and develop the wider Planning and Environmental Assessment and Management Team through mentoring, and line management
Requirements:
Excellent knowledge of EIA practices and procedures, including case law, and a solid understanding of environmental and sustainability principles and environmental technical specialisms
Experience across a range of project types
Proven experience of managing and coordinating EIAs, including the technical review of specialist chapters
Practical working knowledge of the UK planning system and consenting process
Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills with experience in reviewing the work of others to ensure quality
Experience in multi-disciplinary co-ordination and leadership of projects, with good project management and technical skills
Experience in consulting and negotiating with planning authorities, regulators and stakeholders
Commercial expertise, including forecasting, project management and quality assurance
Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards
