We are looking for a Head of Environment - Infrastructure to join our environment team. 

 

Working as a Head of Environment to represent the Environment enabling function by successfully providing strategic, working winning and operational support.To lead Environment function team and be responsible for managing all activities reporting, meetings, strategic or improvement initiatives, working winning and bidding, and operational support and site management) .To collaborate as appropriate with Environment Leadership Team colleagues and other colleagues. 

 

Leadership of Environment Enabling Function 

Contribute to all aspects of leadership through membership of the Environment Leadership Team, including leading by example, collaborating effectively with colleagues and contributing to / leading, as appropriate, 

Collaborating with Communication team to act as a visible representative of the environmental leadership to our markets and customers, including participating in brand and marketing activities such as speaking at events, involvement in industry bodies and publications, professional social media presence and other marketing activities; 

Responsible for leading various environmental management / compliance activities and strategic change iniatives, as directed by Director of Environment and as appropriate to capability and resources. 

 

Supporting environmental management, community investment and work winning (general responsibility and not limited to) 

Lead the team in all professional aspects, including setting team structure, culture and practices, YVOS plans and engagement, objective setting, skills development and learning and development etc; 

Responsible for resource management and forecasting, and providing required support to projects and intiatives; 

Responsible for ensuring environmental management compliance and best practice on projects and sites, and continual improvement of above; 

Responsible for ensuring all activities adhere to environmental and community investment standards and practices as defined in UK Governance policies and in the Environmental Management System (EMS); 

Responsible for leading and working winning activities from an Environment perspective, and ensuring appropriate resources are deployed to successfully support work winning and bids. 

 

Providing strategic support 

Responsible for creating and maintaining relevant strategic relationships amongst current and prospective customer organisations, and for facilitating appropriate customer / stakeholder relationships across the team; 

Responsible for ensuring strategic initiatives are deployed and embedded 

 

We are looking for: 

High level of environmental management and general sustainability experience and skills in construction / built environment / physical materials industries 

Experience / competence managing operations within an accredited environmental management system, including people / processes / systems 

Experience / competence generating and delivering strategic initiatives within an operational function or unit 

People and team leadership / development experience and capability 

Demonstrable passion and commitment for sustainability, carbon 

reduction and environmental outcomes 

Chartered environmentalist or equivalent demonstrable experience 

Degree or equivalent in environmental or related subject
