The water sector has a large carbon footprint and high potential to make significant impactful reductions
In the UK and other regions water utilities are putting net zero carbon plans in place and these have a sizable reduction attributed to 'innovation'
The company has a deep knowledge of relevant technologies and ability to bridge into utilities. With a track record of delivering consultancy to reduce GHGs in wastewater treatment, energy efficiency, reduction of process emissions and setting up a carbon technology scouting network.
The company also works with industrial and corporate clients who have requirements for carbon reducing strategies
The company seeks to strengthen the organisation with technical and practical expertise in carbon reduction
What we are seeking
We are seeking a technical expert with a robust understanding of the water sector and with consulting experience relating to carbon and climate change. There will be a requirement to:
Understand the technological and advisory needs of our clients relating to carbon reduction strategies (e.g. water companies and contractors)
Develop and be accountable for the strategy relating to carbon service offerings at the company
Design and pitch consultancy projects to existing and new clients that lead to securing revenue
Support and lead the team from a technical perspective on consultancy projects, utilising a strong background from water company, industry or academic experience
Evaluate suitable carbon reducing and energy technologies and undertake due diligence
Deliver consultancy projects as part of a flexible team
This role will be global but initially focussed on the home market for the individual. As a Head of Carbon there is requirement to identify and secure revenue, so commercial experience is valuable.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Strategy
Create and own the strategy relating to carbon services
Business Development
Develop and lead the pitch to existing and new clients
Be responsible for defined revenue targets
Consulting
Work with key water industry clients (utilities, contractors, etc) to understand their needs, drivers and technology requirements;
Design and execute complex consultancy projects to meet these needs using personal expertise and the that of the team;
Deliver consultancy projects through contribution to the outputs and also provide an expert reviewer role to ensure high standards in the team;
Evaluate (from a technical and commercial perspective) new and existing technologies, products and services from both the UK and overseas;
Support with the delivery of new consultancy opportunities. These will be broad ranging and the clients may include; water companies, VC investors, technology companies and other water industry stakeholders;
Help to grow company’s network of water sector stakeholders including but not limited to consultants and contractors in the supply chain, governmental bodies, universities, academics and research councils, trade associations, and other relevant businesses;
Lead the organisation and delivery of key stakeholder meetings, seminars and workshops;
Be a strong facilitator in workshops from technical meetings to board level;
Represent the company at conferences and be a confident presenter;
Contribute and lead consultancy projects that span other territories such as Australia, Singapore and US;
Line management where required in the consultancy team.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications
Technical or scientific degree.
Post graduate degree and/or evidence of continuing study
Membership of an appropriate professional body would also be desirable.
Knowledge / Experience
Water sector experience (10+ years)
International water sector experience
Analysis of data and technical information.
Writing proposals and high-quality technical reports.
Project management and delivery.
Team management and/or coaching others
Consulting experience
Technical Skills / Ability
