Job description

My client is one of the UK’s leading independent infrastructure and property consultancies, specialising in environment, planning and sustainability. They are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and broadly skilled Graduate Consultant to work within their EIA Infrastructure / Major Projects team on the delivery and management of projects, as well as helping to grow their business in this area and to further build the company's market presence.

The EIA Consultant will work closely with all internal teams (particularly EIA Property, Air Quality, Energy, Construction Environmental Management) and a wide range of external partners to deliver across a range of projects.

As well as working within and across their teams, the successful candidate will also be given opportunity to take responsibility for tasks and coordination of deliverables within projects. They must be able to demonstrate an ability to work with clients, understand their needs, and translate these into presentable solutions.

Responsibilities will include environmental appraisal and assessment, report writing, coordination with a range of stakeholders, and providing general support across their service areas. The successful candidate will form part of their internal development programme, which includes access to workshops, seminars and presentations from internal colleagues and relevant industry professionals. There will also be access to generic consultancy training and support such as project management and technical report writing and development of new business. Support with membership of an appropriate professional body will also be provided.

The role will provide an opportunity to work in a small dynamic company but on some of the most exciting projects in the UK, with a sense of feeling that a difference can be made to the way the company operates, even at a junior level.

Requirements

They expect the successful candidate will:

- Have a degree in a relevant field (e.g. Environmental Management/ Planning/ Science/ Geography or equivalent).

- Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the Environmental Impact Assessment process;

- Have a strong work ethic and be organised, flexible and motivated;

- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills;

- Approach their work in a professional, enthusiastic and proactive manner.

Experience of any of the following would be useful:

- Prior EIA work experience within consultancy or environment related activities;

- Membership, or working towards membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment);

- A second degree or further qualification (e.g. MSc).
