My client is one of the UK’s leading independent environmental consultancies, specialising in
environmental assessments, planning, policy advice and sustainability.
They are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated Consultant to work
within their Air Quality & Climate Change team, assisting with the delivery and managing of
projects, helping to grow our business in this area as well as to further build the company's
The Graduate Consultant will report to a Principal Air
Quality Consultant and work closely with all internal
teams and potentially with the wider group of
companies. They will work primarily on air quality
monitoring and air quality assessments for
infrastructure and property projects. This will include
air quality monitoring, data processing and reporting,
atmospheric dispersion modelling and the use of
Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The role will
also support our growing portfolio of climate change
projects that include policy appraisals, technical
advice and GHG emissions inventories and footprinting analysis alongside providing general support
to our air quality and climate change projects.
The successful candidate will be expected to work
flexibly on both site and desk-based projects. They
must be able to demonstrate an ability to work with a
variety of clients, understand their needs, and
translate these into presentable solutions.
Responsibilities will include undertaking site visits to
install, maintain and repair monitoring units, analyse
and interpret data sets from various sources for use in
assessment, and write technical reports. The
successful candidate will have to be comfortable
applying their knowledge to new situations and
developing their skills to address future challenges
and needs of both the business and the clients.
The Graduate Consultant will be expected to work
with, and help-out where necessary, the rest of the Air
Quality & Climate Change Team; and work alongside
other teams within the business, including with the
Noise and Vibration, Environmental Impact
Assessment and Planning teams.
We expect the successful candidate will:
• have a degree in a relevant field. A second
degree in a similarly relevant field would also be
• be able to demonstrate an understanding of
environmental, air pollution and sustainability
issues and have an interest in air quality and
• have a strong work ethic and be organised,
flexible and motivated; and
• approach their work in a professional,
enthusiastic and proactive manner.
Experience of any of the following would be beneficial:
• air quality monitoring;
• atmospheric dispersion modelling, particularly
• Arc-GIS or QGIS
• handling and analysis of data in MS Excel or
other software packages such as R.;
• carbon reporting; and/or
• environmental assessment.
