Job description

This role is for one of the biggest water and civil services consultancies, they are currently looking for an experienced Associate EICA Engineer to join their growing team on a permanent basis to support the delivery of numerous projects all across the UK and internationally. This role is located in Newcastle with flexible working.  

 

Job Description:  

 

They have an extensive portfolio of UK, Overseas and Globally delivered projects, helping their clients address asset creation, process improvement and plant optimisation needs. Their locally focused teams incorporate expert electrical, ICA, process, mechanical and civil engineers who provide a multidisciplinary approach to solving their clients’ problems in innovating, creative, managing, building and investing in water and wastewater infrastructure.  

 

EICA projects they carry out involve some of the following discipline items, including:  

 

- LV (and HV) power systems, motor control centres, process instrumentation, process automation and state of the art control systems.  

- Electrical systems modelling.  

- DSEAR/ATEX and functional safety.  

- Using intelligent P&IDs, 3D designs, plant visualization and virtual reality techniques.  

- Power systems analysis software.  

- Using their own suite of intelligent design schedules and MCC design tool.  

 

Some of the main responsibilities for the role include:  

- Asset surveys and assessments, using cutting-edge technologies and techniques as appropriate.  

- Feasibility, outline and detailed electrical and ICA design work (transformers, generators, LVSB, MCC, instrumentation, PLC, SCADA, telemetry etc.) including equipment and system specifications, design schedules, drawings: SLDs, BCDs, earthing, systems architecture diagrams, user requirement specifications (URS/FDS), technical design risk assessments, P&IDs, cost and programme estimations.  

- Technical report writing at all stages of the project lifecycle.  

- Liaison with clients within the UK and worldwide.  

- Support and/or lead bids, fee proposals or offers of service; development of activity schedules/work plans.  

- Delivering projects as a part of multidisciplinary, multi-location, multi-party teams.  

- Preparing profile-raising material such as technical papers and presentations to conferences, staff and clients.  

- Support technical and ‘expert witness’ investigations and appraisals.  

- Supporting and technically developing less experienced colleagues.  

- Contributing to new innovative ideas/ making suggestions for innovation.  

- Opportunity to present your project work at company meetings or at conferences.  

- Working with and developing new automated digital design tools.

Requirements

- Chartered Discipline Specific (i.e. Mechanical, Civil, E&ICA) Engineer with strong experience track record.  

- Experience in design delivery, including coordinating with other disciplines in multidisciplinary design.  

- Experience leading a design team, business development and successful competitive tendering.  

- Engineer with sound problem-solving skills and a pragmatic, practical mind.  

- Take accountability and responsibility for work carried out by the individual or the team.  

- Work well with and form relationships with others, including the client team, other disciplines, and contractors at all levels (junior to senior) inside and outside the business.  

- Experience working with and negotiating with key project stakeholders, including regulatory, statutory, and local bodies.  

- Produce designs following CDM regulations.
