Job description

Our Client is a top rail contractor, they provide design and project management delivery using their in-house resources to deliver refurbishment and renewals projects. They are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Sheffield.  

 

Commercial Responsibility for multiple projects within the Works Delivery Framework other responsibilities include:  

• Manage, train & provide support to a dedicated commercial team, carrying out regular job chats, PDR’s and helping to develop staff through PDP’s  

• Provide advice to commercial team / project staff on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence  

• Supply relevant commercial information / reports to the Commercial Director for review at specified intervals  

• Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements  

• Ensure all contract correspondence is recorded and logged  

• Develop client relationships, achieving a progressive improvement in Customer satisfaction  

• Maintain and establish regular contact / meetings with Client  

• Attend all commercial meetings internal / external relevant to the portfolio  

• Oversee / monitor contract costs and financial reporting systems  

• Prepare and submit cash flow forecasting as required  

• Carry out monthly / periodic financial reviews (CVR’s) on multiple projects and forecast final outturn values for cost, value and margin  

• Prepare and submit periodic valuations / application for payments ensuring that Client payment and cash collection is achieved in accordance with the contract  

• Oversee and monitor the process for production and submission of variations / change including maintaining a variation/ change log  

• Identify potential commercial / financial risk and opportunity issues and evaluate options to mitigate  

• Oversee and monitor the production, submission and agreement of final accounts in accordance with the contractual requirements and meeting the Client KPI deadlines  

• Oversee the process, liaising with the Supply Chain for the procurement, negotiation and placing of sub contract and supplier orders  

• Oversee the production and agreements of estimates on the NR Monitor system  

• Oversee the procedures for certification of contract payments / variations and settling final accounts to subcontractors in line with agreed terms and conditions  

• Assist with tenders, both in terms of formulating and review  

• Comply and promote the company safety policy  

• Comply and promote the company values  

• Any other duties as may reasonably be required

Requirements

• Similar experience working within a contracting environment for 5+ years (rail experience is essential)  

• Experience with the NR Monitor system (NR4)  

• Experience in the Minor Works framework  

• Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised  

• Demonstrate ability to lead a team  

• HND / HNC  

 

Desirable experience:  

 

• Degree in Quantity Surveying  

• RICS / CES
