Our public sector client is currently looking for a Senior Buyer for a 6 months contract with possible extensions at £500pd inside IR35, based in London/York or Derby. 



Role: Senior Buyer 

Contract Length: 6 months – possible extension to 12 months 

Location: London Stratford, York or Derby - Eastern -2 days office 3 days from home 

IR35: In scope 

Pay Rate to Candidate: £500 per day Umbrella 


Minimum Requirement: 

• Wants front end procurement process experience 

• Must have tender review experience 

• OJEU – public sector) not post contract 

• Governance and assurance procedure must be adhered to and admin heavy 

• Public sector experience – NHS or council 

• Utilities regulations experience 

• Desirable – construction or rail 

• OJU regs 

• Experience in drafting contracts 

• Tender system – Bravo/Jagger 

• 80% construction-based role 

New contract 250k – 5million 


Tenders around x 4 – x 8 per month dependant on risk and complexity 

Develop sourcing strategy 


Varied portfolio, varied stakeholders 

Internal changes – providing feedback on changes 



Eastern region project specific contracts – looking after infrastructure from minor maintenance to renewals of failing infrastructure to massive enhancements. 80% works contracts and the rest goods contracts and professional services buying experience 

No direct reports – maybe some mentoring 

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Achieving and reporting on savings and efficiencies achieved with costs including spend, scrappage, usage and inventory levels; Executing end to end procurement processes, including data collection, document preparation, negotiation, contract award, contract management and supplier relationship management; Managing communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders; Communicating priorities and business plans to internal and external stakeholders whilst ensuring that all programmes and projects deliver to time, cost and quality requirements; Developing and motivating staff; Setting standards and values for the team, ensuring effective communications with staff are in place; Defining, analysing and interpreting financial data confidently.
