Job Title: Principal Geotechnical Design Engineer (Rail)
Rate / Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 plus package
I am currently working with a large consultancy renowned for their range of expertise and collaborative approach delivering resourceful and sustainable solutions for their projects. Award winning teams providing professional services completing all aspects from initial concept planning, through to design to delivery. They specialize in infrastructure, environment, energy, water, highways and rail.
This opportunity has arisen due to my client securing more projects UK wide. The works will be in Rail.
- A bachelor’s Degree or master’s degree in Civil Engineering/Structural Engineering or a related subject accredited by the Engineering Council OR you will already be or fast approaching Chartered Member status of the Institute of Civil Engineering (CEng MICE).
-Extensive post qualification experience in the design, implementation and supervision of all aspects of rail and civil engineering design and construction.
-Design experience and Civil Structural experience in Rail.
-Client /consultancy background
-Working knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidelines of Network Rail
-Client facing and Reporting
-Undertaking feasibility studies including preparing reports, investigating problems, cost estimates and identifying of options.
-Overseeing and monitoring works on site, making valuations for payment assessments, directing and managing progress meetings.
- Experience of working in geotechnical design (i.e. working to EuroCode 7 and other recognised standards).
-Good range of knowledge and application of ground investigation methods, soil and rock parameter selection, design of shallow footings, piles and retaining walls.
-A broad range of design experience including foundations, retaining walls, soil nails, reinforced soil, earthworks and ground improvement.
- Competent user of geotechnical software in earthworks, deep and shallow foundations, retaining structures and systems (such as SlopeW, WALLAP, Oasys Suite). Experience in using FE 2D and 3D analyses (such as Plaxis, Midas)
