What will you be doing?
As the Head of Commercial Management, you’ll be reporting into the COO and will be responsible for developing the cost management strategy, and delivering the day-to-day contract administration, promoting best practice and generating a professional, collaborative relationship with the company's supply chain partners. Ultimately ensuring the business is able to make sound financial decisions in relation to contract costs.
You will be leading the team of Commercial Managers in delivering a centre of excellence for commercial management and administration across operational and capital delivery contracts for both high volume / low value activities, along with high value one off projects and programmes.
Leading a team of Commercial Managers to deliver the objectives of the commercial management function
Developing the main processes to administer the primary contracts, NEC4 Option, and IChemE Red and Green Books.
Building relationships and trust with supply chain partners
Promoting commercial best practice and developing the team and wider company's colleagues
Operating the change, valuation, dispute, and final account processes
Assessing and certifying the work done and associated contract payment applications
Monitoring, applying, and forecasting the contract incentive mechanisms
Auditing contract and business processes to ensure all obligations are fulfilled by all parties
Negotiating changes / commercial resolution of issues
Understanding and applying the schedule of performance indicators within the contracts
Unit cost assessment and comparison to expected / targeted outcomes
Provide analysis and insight on contract performance and cost enabling business decisions
Identifying efficiency opportunities both in processes and contract performance
Monitoring, forecasting, and reporting on overall contract and process performance
What we are looking for …
We need a commercially savvy operator who prides themselves on their leadership capabilities. In addition, we need someone who can demonstrate the following:
Commercial contract Management gained within a regulated utility industry (ideally water) and an understanding of NEC / industry specific contracts, models and operations
Sound Financial Management
High level negotiation, influencing and dispute resolution skills
Numerate and ability to analyse complex challenges
Relevant qualifications: Degree in QS, RICS etc
Ideally, you’ll also have experience of adjudication, tender processes, and audit.
