Osborne to develop Mercers Yard in Covent Garden

Contractor Osborne has scooped a £19m redevelopment contract of Mercers Yard in Covent Garden, London. Osborne will refurbish 13-14 Langley Street, which is an original Covent Garden warehouse, into a flagship retail store.

As part of the scheme, the contractor will also build three new mixed-use blocks with retail and restaurant space at ground and basement levels, and 24 residential apartments on the upper floors. The new blocks will open out into the new public space which provides pedestrian walkways linking Langley Street and Mercer Street via a new piazza.

Osborne’s Commercial and Healthcare Director, Simon Parham, said: “We’re very proud to have been chosen to carry out the refurbishment of Mercers Yard, with the new streetscape adding another dimension to the intrigue and excitement that surrounds Covent Garden.”

Demolition works have commenced on the project with an anticipated completed date sometime in late summer 2016. This will allow sufficient time for retail fit-outs ready for the run to the Christmas shopping period.
