In a deal worth around £150m, Interserve has been selected by Southampton NHS Trust Foundation as its commercial estates development partner. The 25 year partnership will see Interserve and UHS working with Prime, a health and social care property company to secure funding for new building development projects.
The partnership will design, build, finance and operate the new facilities required by UHS as well as provide estates and support services.
The initial project programme includes the construction of a new main entrance, welcome centre, small on-site hotel and a multi storey car park.
Interserve’s Chief Executive, Adrian Ringrose, said: “We are excited to be working with UHS in this important partnership which will help deliver top quality, sustainable public infrastructure and services for the people of Southampton, Hampshire and the surrounding area. Our partnership with Prime will benefit UHS patients and the local staff who care for them as well as generating important additional income for the Trust.”
UHS will receive an annual income from partnership activity and a share of profits over the contract’s term which will go towards supporting and enhancing the delivery of NHS care at UHS.
