Ambergate Reservoir

Ambergate Reservoir

Costain has started works on a £30m scheme to replace Ambergate reservoir.

The 110M Litres covered reservoir of Ambergate in Derbyshire, Europe’s second largest, has reached the end of its lifespan.

It’s a key strategic reservoir for Severn Trent Water as about 590,000 customers from the East Midlands currently benefit from it.

The large contractor Costain has

won the contract and will replace the reservoir by constructing two new reservoirs totalling 137M Litres.

A larger reservoir of 87M Litres will be built around the foundations of the old reservoir and once commissioned a new reservoir of 50M Litres will be installed in place of the old old.

As part of the project a concrete batching plant and junction improvements will be built.
