Contractor sought for £47M highways patching job in Leicestershire

The contract is split into two lots with both being for the “construction, foundation and surface works for highways and roads”.

The council is looking to appoint a “single suitably experienced supplier” for each lot “to provide carriageway patching repairs and ancillary works within Leicestershire”.

Lot one covers the wider Leicestershire council and is worth £37M while lot two focuses solely on the Leicester City Council area and is worth a total of £10M.

Some of the works expected to be conducted by the contractors successful across both lots include inlay patching of carriageways, provision and laying of various type of conventional bituminous bound materials.

This is alongside overlay patching of carriageways, all of which will be machine laid, and ancillary works, including replacement and/or adjustment of manholes and covers and refixing or replacement of small amounts of kerbing adjacent to patching works.

Both lots are due to last a year and have an optional extension period of four years to be taken in 12 month increments.

Potential contractors must respond to the tender before 12pm on 24 February.
