£700k bridge refurbishment gives a lift to Kelvedon station
Greater Anglia

New handrails, lighting and a non-slip floor surface are among some of the improvements unveiled at Kelvedon station as part of a huge overhaul of the footbridge.

The £700,000 bridge refurbishment, included repairs to concrete structures and installing new steel reinforcements.

Improvements to passenger safety were of utmost concern, so big changes were made to flooring and handrails, and the height of the bridge parapet was also raised as an additional safety measure.

Greater Anglia’s asset management director, Simone Bailey, said, “The work at Kelvedon station means that the footbridge is now looking much smarter, has improved customer safety and is helping to enhance the station environment for our customers.

“I would like to thank customers for their patience while this work was carried out.

“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”
