This role with our Central Government Client is 5 months long. The role remote working and has a pay rate of £570 p/d umbrella.
Job Description:
The Scrum Master will be working within a strategic technology led change programme (consisting of multiple workstreams) to deliver three key objectives for the organisation as follows:
1) The establishment of an Enterprise Data and Analytics Platform which will underpin the transformation of the organisations Data Environments.
2) The enablement of better outcomes by improving access to data and advanced analytic capabilities.
3) The reduction of burden and cost by decommissioning duplicate and legacy data enrichment and analysis data platforms.
Role purpose:
As the Scrum Master you will be responsible for ensuring that the Programme development teams follow the scrum framework values and agile practices, mentoring and motivating the teams to improve processes, facilitating meetings and decision-making processes, and eliminating team constraints.
The role holder will help create self-organising teams that are flexible and fully productive during sprints to ensure successful delivery of programme outcomes. This will include assigning work packages, monitoring, and reporting on progress into the programme and ensuring appropriate evidence is provided in delivery.
The Scrum Master will work with the project manager to ensure that the agile ways of working align to the required capabilities as outlined in the project plan, ensuring appropriate prioritisation of backlogs and to ensure successful delivery of required benefits.
The Scrum Master will also work in partnership with the 3rd party supplier to ensure that sprints are aligned, and interdependencies are closely controlled to ensure delivery.
The role holder will be required to apply best practice, identify areas for improvement, identify any risks or issues to the delivery and challenge where appropriate if quality or delivery is being compromised.
Responsibilities:
• Delivery of objectives and milestones:
o Responsible for creating, planning, managing, and delivering solutions using agile methodology values, principles, and practices.
o Create appropriate Sprint boards and tickets that align to the Programme Plan
o Manage each project’s scope and timeline
o Maintain the product backlog, (refining where necessary), undertake sprint planning meetings including Retrospectives
o Plan and facilitate scrums, sprints, retrospective meetings, and daily stand-ups
o Works closely with the Project Manager to ensure prioritisation and delivery of JIRA tickets / backlogs align to the project deliverables and successful benefit realisation
o Determining and managing tasks, issues, risks, and action items.
o Ensuring the proper use of collaborative processes and removing impediments for the scrum team.
o Ensure deliverables are up to quality standards at the end of each sprint
o Work closely with the Project Manager and 3rd party supplier to ensure successful delivery of milestones and capabilities as outlined in the project plan.
o Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and evidence of delivery of milestones / outcomes, ensuring that acceptance criteria are clearly articulated
• Resource Management and optimisation:
o Ensuring resources are directed, managed, and motivated, (and performance managed) ensuring that timescales and quality parameters are achieved
o Ensure teams are delivering the most value and deliver what is important
o Work closely with the Project Manager to plan and manage deployment of physical and financial resources to meet project milestones
o Coach team members in Agile frameworks and guide to higher scrum maturity
o Provide support to teams to implement changes effectively
o Build a productive environment where team members ‘own’ the product and enjoy working on it
• 3rd party supplier:
o Work in partnership with the 3rd party supplier to ensure delivery to time, cost and quality parameters and escalating where appropriate.
o Ensure that key handover points into, and out of the 3rd party supplier meet the entry and exit criteria required to achieve a quality throughput
o Establish and maintain relationships with third party supplier key project resources
• Benefit realisation:
o Work closely with the Project Manager to enable monitoring, management, oversight and reporting of benefit realisation
• Decision making, change control and risk management:
o Ensure that appropriate governance controls are adhered to in terms of decision making and change control
o Ensure timely escalation to Programme Manager, Planning Delivery Manager, and Risk Manager of any risks to delivery
o Ensure that any risks or issues owned (or mitigation owned) are actioned in a timely manner and updates are provided as required
• Reporting:
o Provide status updates and plans as requested to the Planning Delivery Manager and Programme Manager
• Relationship Management:
o Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders
o Facilitate internal communication and effective collaboration
• Process improvement:
o Identify any improvements to processes and ways of working
