Our Government client is currently recruiting for a Python Developer on a 6 month remote contract paying £400 P/D inside IR35.

Role: Python Developer

Contract Length: 6 months

Location: Remote

IR35: Inside

Pay Rate to Candidate: £400 – UMBRELLA

Minimum Requirement:

Primary responsibilities will include:

• Writing effective, scalable code in Python.

• Developing back-end components to improve model responsiveness and performance

• Testing, debugging and upgrading of code produced by you and others

• Integrating user-facing elements into production-ready applications

• Production of technical documentation

• Adherence with all relevant data and physical security policies

• Coordinate with other teams to understand user requirements and provide technical solutions

Job brief

We are looking for several Python Developers to join our Demand Modelling team to help us develop and maintain a suite of models projecting demand for the Test and Trace programme. You’ll be part of a cross-functional modelling team that’s responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment. Your role will include designing new models and converting existing models into production-standard Python code housed on an Azure platform. The role has the following requirements:

Essential Requirements

• Demonstrable hands-on experience of code development in Python

• Experience of interrogating relational databases using SQL

• Experience of working with cloud-based analytics platforms and tools (especially Azure)

• Experience in building robust, well-structured models

• Experience of working to rigorous quality assurance and documentation processes

• Collaborative approach to working with team members to deliver solutions at pace

• Advanced problem-solving skills

• Experience of working in Agile development environments

• Ability to turn business problems into analytical solutions

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Great attention to detail

Desirable requirements:

• Experience of using R and related packages, such as Shiny

• Experience of working with Azure platforms and tools

• Working knowledge of Data Science models and techniques

• Ability to analyse complex datasets and other information sources, and derive insight from them

• Familiarity with front-end technologies (such JavaScript and HTML5)

• Expertise in at least one popular Python framework (such as Django, Flask or Pyramid)

• Knowledge of object-relational mapping (ORM)
