Our Government client is currently recruiting for a Digital Product Manager, on a 8 month contract paying £640 P/D inside IR35 remote.

Role: Product Manager

Contract Length: Until 31/03/22

Location: Remote


Pay Rate to Candidate: £650 UMBRELLA

Minimum Requirement: TO FOLLOW

• Practitioner level knowledge of: agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Lean, Kanban) including how to apply an agile mindset to all aspects of their work - and the role of the product manager in collaborating with teams working in different delivery environments.

o the product lifecycle and how products in different stages of it benefit from different design and development approaches.

o user-centred service design practices and methodologies for public-facing, business-facing or internal services and applications.

• Working level knowledge of:

o a variety of techniques for idea generation, backlog prioritisation, gathering and analysing user or stakeholder feedback, and understanding service metrics and analytics. (working level)

o advances and trends in the wider digital technology landscape and modern engineering practice. Understands the range of technology and development choices available and is able to lead informed conversations and decisions based on user needs, product integrity and value for money. (working level)


• Awareness level (or greater) knowledge of:

o common technology standards – including software, security, privacy and accessibility standards (e.g. W3C).

o professional standards and practices relevant to digital public health services (e.g. NHS Service Manual, Government Service Standard & Manual, Technology Code of Practice) - including any training relevant to other digital disciplines (e.g. user research, design, delivery management etc.)

o the wider private/public/third sector digital landscape - including public sector procurement and contracting frameworks or supplier management.

o modern organisational management practices - including leadership, change management, organisational development, managing multidisciplinary teams.

o the wider product management community - including awareness of formal or informal networks for digital development, agile or public service delivery (e.g. groups, conferences, meetups or online events related to user-centred design and software development).


• Practitioner level skills and experience in:

o understanding users - identifying who they are and what their needs are based on user research, feedback and other data sources.

o defining and clearly communicating outcomes to be met by a product, service or team – whether these are user needs, technical requirements or business-related outcomes.

o working with teams and stakeholders to define user stories with suitable acceptance criteria, key performance indicators (KPIs) and associated performance metrics and measures.

• Working level skills and experience in:

o defining and maintaining iterative product visions and roadmaps, feature or development backlogs and release plans in order to meet clearly defined outcomes.

o delivering digital products or services using an agile mindset, agile frameworks and user-centred design methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Lean, Kanban etc.) to deliver desired outcomes successfully.

o promoting effective agile culture, practices, tools and techniques within teams and organisations.

o experience of successfully managing the delivery of simultaneous digital features, products and services, throughout the development lifecycle within the context of a multi-disciplinary, user-centred design and development team and/or iterative agile software delivery team. (working level)

o working flexibly under pressure, adapting roadmaps and plans as necessary to cope with changing priorities or new information, for both team and user needs.

• Awareness level skills and experience in:

o commissioning work from internal and/or external suppliers or contractors and managing alignment, timescales and dependencies between own and supplier teams.
