Our government client is currently looking for a Digital Designer for a 4-6 months contract at £450 inside IR35.

Role: Digital Designer

Contract Length: 4-6 months

Location: Remote (may be required to come into office in Manchester from time to time)

IR35: Inside

Pay Rate to Candidate: 450 pd/Umb

Core Purpose

The project is one of the largest and most ambitious digital transformation programmes in Europe today. The programme underpins the annual processing of 5m benefit claims, all pension and benefit payments and supports over 84,000 colleagues working in 850 locations.

This important programme is at the heart of the Government’s digital change agenda. It incorporates an end-to-end suite of products and services that are owned by in-house multi-disciplinary teams and developed in partnership with end-users through a test-and-learn approach. Through agile, problem solving methodologies our teams are creating and rolling-out new ways of working that are empowering colleagues and delivered at scale.

Its products and services are used by every person in the department. By adopting user-centred design principles and a continuous improvement approach to service delivery, our teams have hacked the traditional workplace experience. By developing tailor-made packages of tools, services and support, Digital Workplace is reinvigorating the employee experience and delivering a positive impact for colleagues, citizens and taxpayers.

Summary of the Role and key responsibilities

As a Service Designer in our area your work will contribute towards the strategic design vision by supporting the team to answer the question of “What will the project look like for users in the future?”

Your skills and service design methods will be used to support users in journeys that cover everything from their physical workspace to the devices and software they use on a day-to-day basis and how these experiences can be made better by designing based on user needs.

You will be comfortable in facilitating workshops to define user-centred journeys and outcomes. You will be comfortable ensuring design consistency across a range of product areas and design services, making sure that user needs are always fully considered in future technology decisions.

You are able to work independently and are comfortable using service design methods, producing user journeys and service blueprints, communicating with stakeholders, understanding and using design patterns in order for effective decision making to take place across your product or service. You are able to share your work openly and communicating effectively in meetups and across business areas.

Priority Technical Skills required

1. Applying user research data to produce service design products including. service blueprints and user journeys

2. Planning and facilitating workshops to drive actionable outcomes.

3. Collaborating with, and leading multidisciplinary teams through the service design process.

4. Analysing pain points within services and designing solutions that fulfil user needs and business outcomes.

(Experienced in the above skills)

Knowledge and Experience required:

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Knowledge& use of Mural tooling.
