This contract with our central government client is for a Commissioning Manager for 12 months. The role is located in Reading with occasional travel to Sealand when required. The pay rate is £510 UMB per day.  

 

Job Description:  

 

Responsibilities for this role include:  

1. Manage the entire commissioning process, overseeing all aspects from document approval to the execution of commissioning activities.  

2. Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and strategies in collaboration with project teams, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.  

3. Manage Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT) procedures, outlining the necessary steps, criteria, and performance metrics for successful system commissioning.  

4. Lead and supervise a commissioning team, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise throughout the commissioning process.  

5. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to coordinate commissioning activities, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.  

6. Conduct regular progress reviews of commissioning activities, monitoring adherence to schedules, identifying potential bottlenecks, and proposing corrective actions.  

7. Coordinate with customer quality teams to ensure compliance with Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person (SQEP) requirements, providing necessary documentation and demonstrating expertise in commissioning processes.  

8. Oversee the execution of commissioning procedures, including equipment installation, system configuration, calibration, functional testing, and performance verification.  

9. Facilitate coordination and communication between different stakeholders, including clients, contractors and subcontractors, to ensure smooth and efficient commissioning processes.  

10. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to minimise potential disruptions and hazards during commissioning activities.  

11. Monitor and report on the progress and outcomes of commissioning activities, including performance metrics, test results, and compliance with quality standards.  

12. Provide support during commissioning activities, troubleshooting issues, resolving conflicts, and ensuring the successful completion of commissioning tasks.  

13. Collaborate with the documentation team to ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of commissioning procedures, test results, as-built configurations, and other relevant records.

Requirements

- Experience in commissioning systems  

- Commissioning high level security systems  

- Dealing with full aspect of paperwork  

- Engineering background essential  

- Desirable to be from nuclear/defence background
