Our government client is currently looking for a Biostatistician for a 3 months contract at £400pd inside IR35.

Role: Biostatistician

Contract Length: until 31/03/2022

Location: Remote

IR35: Inside

Pay Rate to Candidate: £400 per day umbrella rate

Minimum Requirement:

master’s degree in medical statistics

Security Clearance: BPSS

Interview Process: TBC


As a Biostatistician you will join a fast-paced cross-functional team responsible for generating and analysing evidence on device and sample collection. You will contribute to evaluation design, with significant input into the statistical analysis section of the protocol, statistical analysis plan (SAP) as well as study design and conducting analysis and reporting.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Input into protocol in terms of study design (including sample size estimation), objectives, hypotheses (if relevant) and planned analyses and reporting

• Engage with other multi-disciplinary teams such as Data Management, Medical Report Writers, Ongoing Evaluation Study Managers, Data Scientists within CDO (Chief Data Office), PPEM (Post-deployment Performance Evaluation & Monitoring), clinical/diagnostic experts and PCHO leadership

• Perform interim and final statistical analysis for Ongoing Evaluations and other studies as required

• Work closely with Medical Report Writers to write-up and communicate findings from analysis

Experience Criteria

The following experience is essential for the role:

• MSc (or higher) in Medical Statistics/ Statistics/substantial quantitative component + at least 2 years’ experience of working in a health related area as a statistician; or a first degree in statistics with at least 5 years’ experience of working in a health related area as a statistician

• Familiarity with statistical programming languages, in particular R, SAS or similar and familiarity with data handling techniques using tools such Excel, SQL or Python)

• Demonstrated ability to critically review and interpret results from statistical analysis

• Strong written communication skills to articulate outputs to senior stakeholders

• Strong attention to detail and logical reasoning skills

• Strong experience with Microsoft Excel

• Evidence of working well as part of a collaborative team, with the ability to proactively identifying areas of improvement, and finding solutions or resources when required

• Works well under pressure and can manage ambiguity

The following experience is desirable for the role:

• Experience working with in-vitro diagnostic devices considered beneficial but not essential
