The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) ensures that innovative science and technology contribute to the defence and security of the UK. Dstl supplies specialist services to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and wider government. 60% of MOD’s science and technology programme (total funding: £410 million) is supplied by our external partners in industry and academia worldwide. As a trading fund of MOD, Dstl is run along commercial lines. It is one of the principal government organisations dedicated to science and technology (S&T) in the defence and security field. Indeed, Dstl manages more than half of the approximate £410 million S&T research programme going to industry and academia. Dstl’s suppliers can cooperate through one of the following government programmes: - The Defence and security accelerator - The R-cloud commercial framework - Ploughshare Innovations formed in 2005 to commercialise Dstl’s intellectual property generated from its research. - Synthetic Environment Tower of Excellence (SE Tower), enabling the MOD, industry and academia to work together on future areas of research for mutual benefit. - A number of PhD programmes - Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI), a US Department of Defense (DoD) programme. - Innovate UK (the new name for the Technology Strategy Board), the UK’s innovation agency, whose goal is to accelerate economic growth by supporting business-led innovation. - inSIGHT, a regular defence, science and technology eBulletin that covers the latest science and technology news and events, developments in Dstl’s programmes. Anglo Technical Recruitment government team works on jobs at Dstl on a daily basis and take pride in their success in filling many contract job opportunities at DSTL.
