Job description

Our client is one of the world’s most respected Civil and Railways management and building services consultancies. They have a requirement for a Tunnel Ventilation Engineer to join their growing team on a permanent basis and to help support their increasing portfolio and workload.  

 

Job Description:  

 

You will work on a range of underground facilities and tunnels, including metro systems, railway stations, road tunnels, cable tunnels and more. You will already have experience in some of these areas and be able to apply that experience to our Client's projects as part of a small, dedicated and specialist team – such areas will include:  

- Planning, designing and installing ventilation systems for tunnel projects.  

- Working on a range of systems to ensure tunnels are safe.  

- Planning and overseeing commissioning, operation, refurbishment and upgrade of tunnel infrastructure.  

- On-site inspection and performance testing of tunnel ventilation systems.  

- Applying fluid mechanics and thermodynamics for fire and ventilation modelling.  

- Implementing fire safety engineering, risk analysis and evacuation analysis.

Requirements

- Experience of tunnel ventilation, fire and life-safety design, gained in road, rail and/or metro tunnelling schemes.  

- Working towards chartership but if you are chartered they would also like to hear from you.  

- Proven numeracy skills and experience on 1D and 3D modelling (such as IDA, SES, FDS).  

- Excellent technical skills acquired during your academic background with a bachelors or master’s degree.  

- Experience in related industries such as in building services, with an aptitude for and interest in the numerical analysis and modelling aspects.

- Personality compatible with a high degree of collaborative and teamwork in multi-disciplinary and international projects.  

- Communication and writing skills which are able to produce clear and concise reports or presentations.  

- Willingness to travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas for dealing with challenging projects or participation in reputed conferences.
