Our client is a water and civil engineering contractors with many years experience delivering world class projects across the UK and they are currently looking to recruit Quantity Surveyors from a water background to work on their Anglian Water AMP7 framework.  

 

This role will see you responsible as a valued member of the commercial team that supports our operational and construction teams in all aspects of pre and post contract duties. You will be required to produce cost value forecasts and reporting in addition to preparing and processing payments. You will also negotiate variations, applications and final accounts using the NEC suite of contracts, as well issuing and reviewing tenders against commercial deadlines, all across a portfolio of schemes that vary in scale, solution and location.  

 

Essential Requirements :  

 

In order to succeed in this role, you should have quantity surveying experience in the water or civils industry, as well as operational technical awareness and experience of the NEC3 form of Contract. You should have a BSc in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification/ relevant experience (five plus years). You should possess a strong attention to detail, self-motivation, a problem-solving nature and a drive to succeed. You should have experience in the financial management of medium to large civil engineering projects, and/or as well as high volume, relatively reduced scope element schemes.  

 

You will have good people skills, including leadership skills and the ability to foster professional relations with others. It is expected that you will have experience with change and risk management, as well as tender and final account negotiation skills. You will be a team player with a strong customer focus and sound knowledge of health and safety.  

 

You will need a full driving licence as this position will require travel between offices and sites.

Requirements

Essential  

HND/degree in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent Previous experience of the civil engineering industry  

Familiarity with ICE/NEC forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates and accruals calculations  

Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting and earned value analysis Excellent team player whilst also holding the ability to work independently on own initiative Excellent time management skills, with ability to work to tight deadlines.  

Ability to encourage and support junior members of the Commercial Team  

strong NEC, JCT and other forms of contract experience  

 

Desirable  

Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards CSCS card
