Job description

Our client is a major design, engineering and project management consultancy who has been rapidly growing within various sectors and who is looking for multiple experienced professionals to join them on permanent basis. Our Client is seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to work in their Glasgow location. This role is to join our Client's Design and Advanced Technology (D&AT) Practice, where you will work on projects based principally in their Glasgow offices but with opportunities to work at our Client's locations elsewhere in the UK and overseas.  

 

Job Description:

Some of the main responsibilities for this role will include:  

- Lead a team to undertake technical design work following relevant design standards and codes, and to high-quality levels.  

- Prepare briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.  

- Successfully manage time and budgets to key project milestones and programmes.  

- Work closely with teams in the UK and overseas to deliver integrated design solutions.  

- Adhere to quality assurance standards in design.

Requirements

- Chartered Civil / Structural Engineer.  

- Experience in design delivery, including multidisciplinary design.  

- Experience leading a design team.  

- Able to work independently to deliver work, as well as part of a team.  

- Take accountability and responsibility for work carried out by the individual or the team.  

- Work well with and form relationships with others, including the client team, other disciplines, and contractors at all levels (junior – senior) inside and outside the business.  

- Be self-motivated to produce high-quality deliverables.  

- Flexible attitude to the type of work undertaken, level of responsibility given, and work location.  

- Have experience coordinating with other disciplines in multi-discipline projects.  

- Produce designs following CDM regulations.  

- Strong communication skills, independent working, presenting, and influencing skills.  

 

Desirable:  

 

- Sound knowledge in design and analysis of heavy concrete and steel structures, and familiarity with current design standards and working practices, both British Standards and American codes.  

- Experience in the nuclear sector, particularly in the design and implementation of safety-related structures, systems and components (strongly preferred, but dependent on level of overall experience).  

- Proficiency in designing with appropriate structural analysis packages, following local and national guidance.  

- Have experience mentoring junior staff  

- Digital skills or an appetite to learn is key.
