Job Title: Bid Writer

Location: Doncaster

Salary: £30,000 - £45,000

Role Purpose:

Your primary responsibility will be to write high quality bid responses for new tenders. You will be responsible for introducing and coordinating the bid response process. Develop and maintain a knowledge base of “standard” answers and templates, as well as identifying ways to improve the quality, consistency, and efficiency of the bid response process. To do this effectively you will liaise with other teams and senior stakeholders to ensure the submissions are made on time and to the required standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Compile, edit, and proofread commercial proposals which contain technical content and designs

• Compile, edit, and proofread quality submissions which contain technical content and designs

• Review and revise documents prepared by others and coordinate in the preparations of the material for the completion of bid documents

• Develop knowledge of the business and services by reading and reviewing previous bid and design documents, spending time with pre-construction, consultancy, and engineering teams

• Review and improve other customer materials and develop a consistent set of standards for other commercial functions to follow

• Develop a set of standard templates or less complex bids

• Provide coaching and mentoring to colleagues to improve their understanding and bid writing abilities

• Generate tender content, such as project data sheets and project CV’s

• Compile, edit, and proofread content for use on social media and content in literature/publications

• Ability to work with minimal supervision

• Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and deadlines

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Key qualifications / experience

• High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word as a minimum)

• Relevant GCSE/ A-level education

• Experience or background in the bid coordination and preparation

• Proven experience of working in the construction / civil engineering / engineering sectors
