Job description

Our client is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering, and project management consultancies. They have a requirement for an Assistant Structural Engineer to join their growing Epsom Structures team on a permanent basis to work on some of the most exciting and varied energy projects in the Offshore Oil and Gas and Renewables sectors.  

The main focus of the team is the Energy sector, including the Renewables, Conventional Generation, Oil & Gas, Energy from Waste, Energy Storage and Petrochemical Markets.  

You will ideally be a Assistant Structural Engineer with a proven track record of successful delivery of design projects from concept to completion. Credibility, competence and technical excellence are a given as the role requires close working with our internal and external clients, industry stakeholders and other consultants to develop robust design solutions through collaborative and proactive management of client demands.  

You will manage your own cost and time targets to deliver an efficient, high calibre engineering service and be able to prepare the associated clear, concise, high quality reports. You will be working in a team of very experienced engineers to execute projects and will have the opportunity to develop your capabilities in line with the requirements of the client's career paths.

Requirements

You will have a strong analytical background and a desire to develop in the field of structural engineering and analysis. In addition to this, you will be able to work with other teams in the UK, and worldwide, to develop cross-discipline capabilities. You will have the potential and desire to progress to Senior Engineer status and beyond. In addition to having the ability to cope with rapidly changing and challenging projects, you will bring a flexible approach to adapt to individual situations. You will also have:  

• An understanding of the fundamentals of structural engineering and of relevant structural codes and standards.  

• Demonstrable experience and focus on project delivery, including experience of working to tight budgets and timescales.  

• Willingness to develop a wide range of skills and flexibility to work on variety of projects.  

• Experience of applying appropriate quality assurance and reporting.  

• Experience of working with local and geographically disparate teams and resources.  

• Able to motivate self and teams, deal with conflict and create a strong delivery culture  

• An Engineering degree (honours or equivalent) in civil, mechanical, structural, or similar engineering discipline
