Our client is one of the world’s most respected design, engineering, and project management consultancies.  


They have a requirement for an Assistant Structural Engineer to join their growing Cardiff Structures team on a permanent basis to help deliver their ambitious plans to develop and grow the Building Design practice in Wales and across the UK.  


Our client provides multidisciplinary engineering services and integrated solutions across a wide range of projects relating to buildings and infrastructure. Drawing upon a diverse skill set and a proven track record of delivery they are playing a leading role in some of the world’s most challenging and exciting engineering projects across sectors including; Education, Commercial, Residential, Transportation, Defence and Energy.  


The main focus of the team is the Energy sector, including the Renewables, Conventional Generation, Oil & Gas, Energy from Waste, Energy Storage and Petrochemical Markets.  




Key responsibilities will include:  


Undertaking structural engineering analysis and design under the supervision of a senior engineer.  

Production of structural engineering calculations to both Eurocodes and British Standards.  

Drafting structural specifications.  

Carrying out structural surveys.  

Working with CAD Technicians to produce relevant structural information.


1st or Upper 2nd Class Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering.  

A minimum of 1 years post graduate experience working as a structural engineer ideally in the buildings sector.  

Working to achieve Chartered Engineer status having commenced the core objectives.  

Experience in the design of structures using the conventional engineering materials (steel concrete, timber, masonry) to both British Standards and Eurocodes.  

Strong problem-solving abilities.  

Commercial awareness.  

Good communication skills, verbal and written (for report writing purposes).  

Ability to use AutoCAD, Revit and a variety of structural analysis software.  

Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-discipline team.
