Job Description:
The Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology Division is at the leading edge of delivering Resilience Engineering & Sustainable Critical Systems exploiting Safety Engineering principles, across multi discipline and industry domains.
Their clients are demanding support in a variety of both traditional and pioneering areas, in which they provide holistic services, requiring a diverse range of experience with an understanding of safety engineering in the broadest sense, whilst increasingly considering digital twins, machine learning, artificial intelligence and big data analytics to name a few.
Their growing team offer a range of independent and unbiased advice in engineering, technical and strategic advisory services to a wide breadth of markets and clients. You will be working with their clients to deliver who understand systems engineering principles and take on the challenge of applying their electrical/electronic engineering skills within a safety critical consultative environment.
They require senior engineers/consultants who have self-motivation and enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and develop new skills. Attributes also includes, possess professional characteristics in delivering with ideally a good understanding of the Aerospace & Defence and wider Markets to provide guidance and direction in the development of systems safety engineering solutions for their clients, including:
- Support to sales.
- Assurance of work undertaken by project teams.
- Providing a vision of future needs to support the development of capability.
- Leadership of major system safety engineering assignments for clients.
- Degree qualified in a role/industry relevant industry or HNC/HND or equivalent Industry experience.
- Electrical/Electronic Safety Critical Engineering Practitioner.
- Experienced in electrical, electronics and power distribution systems, with an awareness/understanding of the fundamentals and current technology trends in ideally the Defence, Aerospace or similar safety critical environments.
- Professional in approach and performance, with a proven background and capable of working on diverse projects, build sustainable relationships with clients, stakeholders and develop future business opportunities.
- Good knowledge of power distribution systems, implementation of Safety Critical assessments and the interpretation and analysis of results.
- Familiarity of British Electrical/Electronic, UK Defence and European standards/regulations and other statutory, regulatory and non-regulatory guidance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills commensurate with the role, including the preparation and presentation of reports to both internal and external customers.
Desirable criteria:
- Chartered Engineer or equivalent or working towards it.
- An understanding of the safety lifecycle for electrical and instrumentation safety critical systems.
- Knowledge of electrical and safety sector standards including BS EN 61508.
- Desire to build a broad experience of electrical, electronics and power distribution systems across technology trends including battery, hydrogen and Carbon Net zero within safety critical environments.
- Applying knowledge, experience and tools to deliver innovative and cost-effective power and control solutions to their clients, including systems modelling and functional safety.
- Proven track record of developing systems safety engineering solutions at infrastructure, platform or at system level.
- LV (and HV) power systems, motor control centres, process instrumentation, process automation and state of the art control systems.
- Interrogate data systems to assess safety performance and risks and optimise investment decisions.
- Manage and motivate project teams through strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
